I guess I am legalistic. I expect everyone to follow the rules. People that don't follow the rules and get away with it make me really angry. That's where our society has gotten this "Well, if they don't have to, why should I?" attitude.
I'm not perfect, and I don't *always* follow the rules, but I pretty much do. Reminds of the time I was out of town and became very sick, sick enough to get an antibiotic injection. I had a paratonsillar absess, if you care....Anyway, the nurse said, you need to stay here for 20 minutes so we can make sure you don't have an adverse reaction to the medication. Then she had the nerve to be surprised when she came back and I was still there! She asked my husband if I always followed the rules that well and he didn't even hesitate when he said "Yes!"
You guessed it, someone didn't follow the rules today and it made me mad.

If it makes you feel better, I follow the rules too. After shots for myself, for the kids, when they say to hang out for 10-15 minutes to make sure there are no bad reactions, you better believe that I do!! I don't litter! I drive the speed limit!! I never laminated my social security card! Go me!

I never call myself a legalist because I am not really a legalist. There is a fine balance between legalism and liberalism. Both are wrong. I don't have " legalistic control" over others but I do have my limits when they are affecting my own life.
I am more of traditionalist which means my personality often seeks a system for living in my faith, or conservatism or any authority that has defined rules and principles for living.
More often I allow other’s rights and needs take precedence over my own but at the same time, when necessary, I will express that the other person and I both have rights and needs equally.
